We are proud to be located in the city of Akron, Ohio.
CHC was founded in 1974 as the Community Drug Board to treat substance abuse disorders in Summit County and beyond. Fifty years later, we are still one of the foremost recognized agencies in the state for our dedication to excellence in care. Our mission is to treat, inspire, and empower our community to live healthier lives.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization currently led by women and governed by a community board.
CHC believes that addiction is a fatal disease that requires multiple avenues of treatment to be successful. Our staff employ the principles of trauma informed care to save lives. We offer medication assisted treatment, residential and partial hospitalization programs, psychiatry, individual counseling, peer support, and group therapy as part of individualized plans of care.
CHC serves everyone, regardless of social status, race, economic status, age, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or gender.
Everyone is welcome at CHC.
CHC maintains accreditation and licenses in a number of areas. Specifically, we take part in the accreditation process for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the industry leader. JCAHO symbolizes excellence, experience and professionalism. Our continuance of this voluntary accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing quality care to each of our patients.
