Treatment

At CHC, we know that addiction and mental health disorders affect everyone differently. We work to remove the barriers to treatment so that you can achieve a healthier life.

Our programs are designed around the principles of trauma-informed care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment. At CHC, we meet our patients where they are, co-creating basic structure and support for their success. Participants work with staff to design an individualized plan to address sobriety, behavioral health, and personal goals.

What Does CHC Offer?

Once you attend your intake session, your team will find the program that fits your situation best. Because everyone’s situation is different, we do our best to place you where you will have the highest chance of success. Please note that some programs may take a bit longer to get placement based on availability.

Our Programs Include:

Medication-assisted treatment includes medication, individual and group counseling, case management, and peer support. Our program is designed to create a support system that will help you make the most of your treatment and give you tools for success. CHC’s first program of the kind began in 1974.

MAT is a highly effective, evidence-based practice in which medication stabilizes brain function and allows you to return to your best capabilities. You’ll be able to focus on your recovery, employment, and parenting. It’s also been found to help clients to be healthier quickly as they begin the recovery process.

Many MAT patients are active in other programs, such as Intensive Outpatient Groups (IOP), Women’s Recovery Outpatient, Touchstone Partial Hospitalization, RAMAR Men’s Residential, and more.

Medications offered in through our MAT program include:

Methadone

Methadone is the most widely-used and studied treatment for opiate addiction. It has been identified as the most effective treatment. It is a long-lasting, synthetic narcotic that acts in a way similar to morphine or other narcotics. When used in proper doses, methadone does not create euphoria, sedation or analgesic effects. It is used as a maintenance treatment to stop cravings. Methadone builds up and is stored in the body. This helps stabilize a patient so many do not feel the effect of being high.

Buprenorphine (Subutex)

Buprenorphine is a tablet form of medication which is taken under the tongue and is also used to treat addiction to opiates, such as heroin or prescriptions analgesics like OxyContin.

Buprenorphine can be used for both long-term maintenance and/or medically-supervised withdrawal from opioids. This FDA-approved drug has been proven safe and effective in suppressing withdrawal symptoms and in blocking the effects of illicit opioids.

Vivitrol (naltrexone)

Vivitrol (naltrexone) is a non-addictive, once-monthly injectable treatment that blocks opioid receptors in the brain. Because Vivitrol is an antagonist, it is right for patients who have already undergone withdrawal from heroin or opioid pain medicines. It can also be used to treat alcohol dependence.

As with all other medications at CHC Addiction Services, Vivitrol is to be used in conjunction with counseling.

Women’s Recovery is a specialized program housed in our 702 E. Market St. building that includes individual and group counseling, intensive outpatient groups, peer support, case management, and medication-assisted treatment support. This program offers drop-in child care for clients on-site so that parents can more easily engage in their treatment. Women’s Recovery has been helping address unique barriers to treatment women face since 1992.

The Rocco Antenucci Memorial Adult Residential Center (RAMAR) is consistently ranked amongst the top in the state of Ohio. Founded in 1982, RAMAR has been a leader in residential recovery programs for the last 40 year. Find out why this home-like setting built around the principles of brotherhood is so successful.

Our Touchstone program is unique in Summit County. Women of all ages are welcome, including women with up to two children under the age of five. Clients with children are able to utilize on-site childcare during the day in order to fully engage in treatment groups and individual therapy. In this program, women learn parenting techniques, healthy life choices, and gain skills to successfully navigate long-term recovery.

CHC Addiction Service’s Adult Outpatient department is designed to promote the recovery process through group and individual counseling, case management, vocational development, community support groups and re-integration programming. The Adult Outpatient program offers Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for men and women as alternative to residential treatment for those who don’t need medical detoxification or 24-hour assistance.

We also help you learn important skills for relapse prevention, navigating family dynamics and long-term recovery. You’ll be encouraged to build recovery support in the community through attendance at 12-step meetings or other self-help groups. Research shows that long-term recovery is easier when there is a good support system behind you.

Your care team will help find the program that works for you.
